GalaGala is a heart-shaped with distinctive yellow-orange skin and red striping. It offers a crisp, sweet taste that can't be beat.
It was discovered in New Zealand at J.H Kidd's orchard in the 1920's. It did not appear in the United State's until 1980's. It is now Washington's harvest opener with pick dates in August.
Gala is the perfect take along snack at any time of day and is also great in salads.
