Granny Smith

Bright green apple that packs a mouthwatering tartness, a crisp bite, and tangy flavor. Its tart flavor really comes through when baked and sauteed.

It was discovered in 1868 in Australia in Mary Ann (Granny) Smith's Backyard. Washington began planting it in the late 1960's and it is now the third most produced in the state.

Usage: Enjoy as a snack, in a salad, or baked. (Apple Pies)
